Outdoor clothing repairs

Vladimír Bureš 13.01.2024

Do you want to repair clothes and at the same time take a look behind the scenes of outdoor production? How does the world work?

Is it all about sustainability?

On the internet, Faramugo is the leading player in the Czech Republic. Almost nobody does it because it is very difficult.

Here are some reviews from satisfied customers. They are easily traceable on google.com.
Faramugo repaired my membrane jacket in a short time - everything was done in the agreed time before leaving for the mountain expedition. I appreciate the smooth communication, the quality of the work and the speed of the repair. I am happy to recommend this company to others. The next time I choose functional clothing for the mountains, I will definitely look at the products of this Czech company.

Very nicely done repair of goratex jacket. At first, I thought I might have to throw the jacket away from the unnamed brand because the main zipper on it broke and the store where I bought it told me that there is no after-warranty clothing repair with them. The seamstress didn't dare to repair the glued jacket either. It was only here in Faramugo that they repaired it for me without any problem. Perfect communication and speed of execution. For me, one. I highly recommend

Absolutely without a doubt the best company in the Czech Republic producing outdoor clothing. Quality materials, cut of clothing is based on many years of experience of movement in the mountains of the founders, so the individual elements have their function and justification. Superior pro-customer approach. Totally recommend.

J.H.Otherwise, you did the past corrections very nicely - thank you very much.

For example, we repaired trousers of an unnamed world brand S-----n. Material GTX, top of the line for the mountains, a year old. Supposedly from France (why not show off Europe, right?), made in Bangladesh. China, being the workshop of the world, has learned to produce quality, but Bangladesh is all about slave labour and super low price. No, they just can't do quality. Pants Made in Bangladesh? Inappropriate seam used in the crotch with minimal foundation. Stretched, can't hold for long. YKK zippers, but they didn't pass quality control, teeth falling out. Suspenders loops made of elastic material, but sewn with inflexible thread, they crack and hang all over the place. Fabric delaminated in places, air bubbles.

In Faramugo we're dealing with a dilemma.

To repair or not to repair foreign products? On the one hand, we want to help people who are as dedicated to the outdoors as we are. And ecology is not an empty concept for us. On the other hand, we're making useful idiots of corporations that make infinitely more money than we do. No one has ever approached us, these companies don't address service at all.

Modern technology?

Not all current technology is good. Often the goal is design at the moment of sale. Buy and already open your wallet to buy another piece of clothing. Because the one you just bought isn't supposed to last long. You wouldn't be buying anything. Often the technology, like welding zippers, is clean and attractive. Also cheap and fast in terms of production. They just won't last long.

And not everything can be fixed. And is the price acceptable?

Do we have high prices on repairs? I don't know myself. But what I do know is that labor in the Czech Republic is extremely tax and fee laden. Repairing a cheap piece from Asia can be more expensive than sewing a new item. That's why it doesn't make sense to send us a promotional sweatshirt. We will spend our time on an expensive and high quality GTX jacket. But making our Faramugo clothing always takes precedence over repairing XY brand. There are simply no people in the Czech Republic anymore and repairs are becoming more and more numerous. Please accept delivery times of at least 1-2 months. And for your information, repair is not fun. It is a laborious affair. Before we can even repair a jacket, replace a broken zipper, etc, we have to remove the tape by heating it up first. And then unzip the old zipper. It's not easy.
